An Introduction (otherwise known as) My Life According to BBC Sherlock

So here it goes.  Me trying my hand at this whole blog business.  I've tried it before and failed.  As easily displayed by searching my previous posts here.

In fact I rather feel like John Watson a la BBC Sherlock.  Nothing happens to me.  So who could possibly want to read my blog?

But who knows, perhaps 2013 will bring me my proverbial Sherlock and suddenly I will have all sorts of interesting things to post about.  Time will tell.

Until then I'll be reaching into my top hat of life and picking, at random, whatever falls into my hand and sharing it here with you.  So I highly recommend a strong cup of tea and a good sense of humor.  Or perhaps more aptly, a strange sense of humor.

Oh, by the way my name is Kimberly (hello) and this is my family:

Me, Emma (the furry one) and Thomas.  Yeah, we're pretty cute (you can say it, I won't tell anyone).  We've been married 5 1/2 years and Emma will be 4 in a couple of weeks.  No kids yet, that's a whole other story.

Which I guess, brings me to the real point of this blog.  My mission.  To share myself, with you.  As a testament to what God can do with a broken person.  Yes, I'm sure there will be lots of frivolity around here (it is me we're talking about).  But the true purpose to me blogging, is to live out my life verse which is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10.  To boast all the more about my weaknesses so that God's glory may be displayed through me.  Why not bring this post full circle and quote BBC Sherlock?

Sherlock to John: "You'll never be the most luminous of people, but as a conductor of light, you're unbeatable!"

That's how I feel when it comes to God.  Not really the most luminous of people, surely not compared to Him, or even to most other Christ followers around me, but I hope to be the best little conductor of light possible.  (leave it to me to use a BBC Sherlock quote as a Christian metaphor)

So I'll leave you here.  Hopefully not too bored.  Until next time.

Kimberly

Someday My Prince Will Come...

Call me a softy but I can't help but be excited about this upcoming Friday. It's William and Kate's wedding! A royal wedding. I still sigh whenever I see Princess Diana in her wedding dress. I am also a HUGE Princess Diana fan so seeing her son (who at one point I wanted to marry) get married is just too swoon worthy to pass up. So I will be either be staying up all night to watch it or recording it, either way I am SO there. Here are some items relating to the wedding.

1) A tea towel. How cute is this?

2) How awesome is the detail in this piece of artwork?
3) This map of the wedding procession is to die for. It would be oh so cute framed.
4) And how crazy awesome is this plate? I love everything about it. The colors, the design, the words!!! I kinda want one. :)

How about you, are you excited for the wedding? Will you be watching?

Beauty Wish List April 2011

Here are a few beauty items I have my eye on.

1) Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush.

Being someone who has oily skin blush tends to disappear by the end of the day, especially if I'm not wearing foundation to sort of hold it up. So I've had my eyes on this blush because it claims to last 12 hours and from what I've heard from people who've actually tried it, it works! I particularly have my eyes on Dollface and Exposed. How about you? Are you interested? Have you tried them?

2) Benefit's Sugarbomb blush

I have heard so many good things about this blush and have seen beautiful swatches of it. Now, ever since I purchased Coralista and LOVED it, I decided that maybe I would also like to purchase this beauty. Does anyone else have this and love it?

3) Nars Laguna Bronzer

I have wanted this for a long, long time. I just have never bothered to get it. I don't know why, I guess I'm cheep and lazy. Anyways it is my goal to get my hands on this bronzer, especially for this summer. What is your favorite bronzer?

Currently Reading...

Captivating

This book is transformational. Seriously if you are a woman you need to read this. Written by a Christian husband and wife this book will take you on a journey that every woman's heart needs. It is simply amazing. This is my second time reading it and I think I need to read it every year of my life in order to keep all of the inspirational ideas it contains alive and well in me.

Pride and Prejudice

I must admit this book is a hard read for me, and that is coming from someone who thinks reading The Scarlet Letter is a walk in the park. I just don't know what it is about her writing style in this book that makes it hard for my mind to stay tuned. I can read Sense and Sensibility just fine but this book is harder for me. I love the story itself so I am sticking to reading this one even though it doesn't hold my attention very well. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

My Spring trends...

I really honesty want to try to get into blogging so with that let's get started...

With the weather being unusually warm and sunny for this time of year here in Northern California I have been thinking of nothing but spring. Spring, spring, spring. I just cannot wait to wear bright colors and flip flops again!

Here are a few spring trends that I intend to be sporting this spring:

1) Wide leg/ bell bottom jeans. I don't know about many of you but being a pear shaped lady I haven't had the fondest love for my skinny jeans. In fact I only own one pair because they are the only ones I've been able to successfully pull off. On the other hand, wide leg/bell bottom jeans fit me just fine. I am more than excited for their triumphant return.

2) 70's style shirts. I'm sure there will be many a person who will think I'm pregnant sporting these blowzy 70's style shirts but I don't care. I think it's cute yet comfortable.

3) Bright colors. Kind of traveling in the same family as the 70's theme, bright colors such as red, green, purple and orange are attracting my attention this spring.

4) Red nails. Usually a fan of the nude nail polishes, this spring I am all about a beautiful bright red nail. There's something about red that just instantly brightens up your day. I saw my friend sporting red nails and new instantly that I had to find the same color. They were a true strawberry color. I asked her what the polish color was and she told me it was OPI's Candy Cane Cutie. Apparently this was from OPI's 07' Christmas collection. I went online and found it and there is no doubt I will be wearing this color a lot this spring.
